Course outcomes and pathways
Registration of a Salesperson (Real Estate Salesperson), issued by the Office of Regulatory Services, will allow you to be employed by a Licensed Real Estate Agent in a sales or property management role.
The ACT Real Estate Salesperson course requires completion of the following units:
· CPPDSM4007A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property management to complete agency work
· CPPDSM4008A Identify legal and ethical requirements of property sales to complete agency work
· CPPDSM4009 Interpret legislation to complete work in the property industry
· CPPDSM4015B Minimise agency and consumer risk
· CPPDSM4080A Work in the real estate industry
Successful completion of this course will meet the educational requirements for a Registration of a Salesperson from the Access Canberra.
Students undertaking the course take approximately 2 – 4 weeks to finish.
The CPP07 Property Services Training Package will no longer be valid from 30 September 2021. Access Canberra will not accept applications based on the CPP07 training package beyond this date.
Students who enrolled in this course prior to 23 March 2020 must submit all outstanding assessments by 31 August 2021 to achieve course completion before the September cut-off date.
Submitting all outstanding assessments no later than 31 August 2021 will:
- allow us to assess final submissions and process qualifications before the September cut-off date.
- allow students to make application to Access Canberra prior to the September cut-off date.
We cannot guarantee successful course completion for assessment submissions made after 31 August 2021.
A Statement of Attainment will be issued upon completion of the course.
Completion of this course will also provide ‘advanced standing’ in the Real Estate Agent, Licensing programme. College staff can assist you in determining the pathways that are most appropriate for your career plan.
Course assessment is competency based. Competency-based assessment is largely activity-based and practical. However, competence also implies that an individual demonstrates an understanding of the knowledge that is the basis of the practical task being carried out.
There is a combination of assessment tasks that require written responses which include:
- multiple choice questions
- short answer questions
- and either 1 or 2 of the following:-
- case study
- written demonstration
- workplace project
- case study
Students are assessed according to whether or not they have achieved the performance criteria for each element specified in the units of competency they are undertaking. This method of assessment judges performance against a prescribed standard, not against other students. Students are assessed as 'competent' or 'not yet competent'.
Completed assignments may be uploaded onto the website for marking – there is a 2MB upload limited - or emailed or posted to the College.

Assessment is conducted within approximately 48 hours of submission.

Legislative and licensing requirements
Once you complete the course you are able to apply for a Registration of a Salesperson from Access Canberra.
All applicants for a Certificate of Registration must satisfy the Commissioner for Fair Trading that he/she:
- is an adult
- has the qualifications required for the registration
- is not a disqualified person
Salespersons and property managers require a Registration as a Salesperson and must not act as or exercise any of the functions of a real estate salesperson/property manager unless the person does so as an employee of the holder of a licence under the Act.
Access Canberra advises that an ACT Certificate of Registration is processed within 12 weeks.
